Walker Williams Gets Washington Husky Offer At Last

Walker Williams Gets Washington Husky Offer At Last

It took a while for the Washington football staff to really look at what other schools were looking at when it came to Tacoma Baptist big manWalker Williams. At 6’7″ and 320 pounds he is the biggest of the big. And yes his film from last year was convincing in regards to his physical presence. But there is something else he has done that has energized and excited teams like UCLA and Wisconsin.

What was it?

Well Williams and his parents who listen to good advice decided to produce a work out video of the big fella training at Competitive Edge in Tacoma. Why that is important is that Walker has transformed himself in almost every way. Thanks to his trainer there at “The Edge” as they call it and training partner Joshua Garnett and his Dad Scott he is leaner, stronger, more explosive, and technically more sound.

And it was that film that convinced Wisconsin that they wanted to take a shot and offer him. He has added UCLA, Colorado, Utah, Oregon State, and now the U of W.

“Coach Cozzetto called me and said that he finally had the time to watch the video. He said he saw it and went in to Coach Sarkisian and had him watch it. That was enough for them and they just made me an offer to play there at the U of W on scholarship,” said a composed Williams.

On his way to the regional Track Meet today Williams was trying to fight the noise of his team mates on the bus and admits he has a lot to think about.

“This is special. It is a big deal. And it is nice to get props from the local schools,” he said adding, “To know that all this work I have done is able to make the difference for them is rewarding and gratifying.”

A few months ago Walker would have likely gone ballistic for an offer from the Huskies. But Offers from The Bruins, The Badgers, and the Beavers and others have him understanding his stock is on the rise. And why not? Where else is a school going to find a kid with this frame and work ethic and incredible grades to boot?

As we have stated this is simply an amazing class of Offensive Linemen in Washington this year.

Walker joins Joshua Garnett (Puyallup HS) who is #22 in the Nation, Zach Banner (Lakes) who is #31 in the Nation, and Nathan Dean (Juanita), who all have in state offers from the U of W.

“The Huskies will be on my short list of schools to consider. Having said that right now I am not counting anyone out.”
