Washington’s Player Of The Year Goes To Two Top Athletes

Well the Oregon Player of the year was a little more clear cut then Washington for the Northwest Prep Report Staff.  NWPR Washington Player Of The Year Goes To Two Top Athletes who got it done on the field and in the classroom to take the award this season and clearly they both dominated their positions in a way that was peerless.

Washington Player Of the Year

Harley Kirsch – QB – Eastside Catholic

Harley-Kirsch-2016

Down 42-14 to mighty Bellevue the Eastside Catholic team needed a spark.  Having been shut out in the first half this dynamic play-maker went to work.  The 6’4″ gunslinger sat back and went to work on the Wolverines.  21-for-31 for 249 yards and three touchdowns. The Cornell commit threw two touchdown passes to tight end Hunter Bryant and one touchdown pass to wide receiver Matt Laris in the second half.  That was a good start at getting him our nomination.  Truly however he had already made the case these past 4 seasons putting on one the greatest High School careers in history.

According to MaxPreps Harley has had these stats in the past 4 seasons:

Harley’s information is here at MaxPreps.

That QB rating his Senior Year is eye popping.  Cornell is landing one of the truly great QB’s in the Nation; a kid who could have gone to any school and had a chance to start.  This is  going to be something to see a kid like this light up the Ivy League and boy what a great degree and education he is getting out of the deal.

Thank you Harley for all the memories and great years representing NW High School Football.

NWPR Co-Player of the Year 2016

EVAN WEAVER – FB / DL – Gonzaga Prep

Evan Weaver State Champ

Evan Weaver is a 6’3″- 247 pound Defensive End and Full back.  He hails from the great city of Spokane, Washington and is committed to play football for the Cal Bears.  Weaver was 31-5 as a starter at Gonzaga Prep and rushed for 133 yards and had 2 TD’s in the State Championship to lead the Bullpups to their first State Title since 1986.  They defeated powerhouse Skyline 34-16 just jack-hammering away at the game using Evan as tool of choice.

He is big, fast, smart, and more then that he has the heart of a Nordic Lion.  He will not be defeated ever- this is the Champion you want on your squad.  People under-estimate this guy.  Although he is big there are much bigger guys in the High School game.  But it is his get off, his fierceness, and his aggression that comes out that make him shine.

On Offense where he was used as a feature weapon-

933 yards 6.1 yards per carry 17 touchdowns

On Defense where he will play at the next level

125 tackles, 1 int, 5 forced fumbles, 37 tackles for loss, 24 sacks, 2 Safeties

“Dirk- It’s hard to believe my dreams came true but they did. We worked so hard and I’m glad to see its paid off. It’s been a great career and there was no better way of ending it. “

Watch his film from his season at GP.  Watch him on Saturdays because your going to see a whole lot of him!
