Who Can Stop Michael Kluge?

It has been a great preseason.  No one has written more nor covered more then we have.  And as the second day of Doubles comes up many questions have been answered.

Many recruits have found a home and many more have found themselves looking at options.

But not all of the questions have answers not yet.

One that remains front and center for us is this.

Who can stop Michael Kluge of Aloha?  To date we have not seen one player be able to take this powerhouse kid and stop him when he unleashes himself.  The 5'10" – 290 Pound Senior to be is one of the most special talents we have seen the last couple of years.

Big Mike moves well and in the 3-5 yards he needs to operate in speed is not the commodity guys need to worry about #1.  His power off the ball and overall strength is almost other worldly at times.  He holds the National Bench Press Record for kids his age in the 440 pound range and is an excellent wrestler.

What that means to opposing linemen is that they will never have an advantage for pad level and power.  And those two things win battles.  Mike won all we witnessed this year.  And we can not wait to see what he does this year.

"Things are good.  Right now several schools are showing interest.  Wyoming seems really interested right now and are the hottest on me for sure," said Michael.

At 5'10" he has a shot at playing Defensive Tackle at the D-1 or D-1 AA level.  And while everyone tells him that is the issue he shrugs it off.

"It's not an issue for me.  That is for other people to figure out.  My strength is my asset and that has to be taken into consideration."

Knowing Michael since 8th grade it has been fun watching him grow up.  No one that saw him pick up the fumble in 2010 in the quarter finals and run it 35 yards for a TD to seal the win over the Lake Oswego Lakers can forget it.

"That was a highlight for sure.  There will be more this year I hope," said Kluge who helped lead his Warriors to the State Title that season.

With guys like Brayden Kearsley, Thomas Tyner, Bryson Sullivan, and AJ McCollum on the team with Kluge they have a very solid group to make a serious run at the Title again.

Coaches will only need to watch the game against Jesuit this season to decide on Kluge.  Trying to stop him will be 3 Pac 12 linemen in Max Rich, Doug Brenner, and Andrew Kirkland.  If the Crusaders are forced to double him, which most teams will be, Kluge will silence all retractors.

The Big Sky schools will come for him.  That we feel pretty certain about.  And this hard working guy just needs to stay on the grind he has been on in the classroom and on the field and his collegiate future is going to be there.

Questions remain and the answers are coming very soon now!

Everyone knows about the motor on John Schaffer, but Michael Kluge has been relentless in his goal to succeed. He works in the classroom, took a SAT prep course this summer, and has been at LA Fitness on the weights all summer. I tell the college coaches that I know and see that Michael is the real deal.
