He was a probably at a high point in his life last night coming off the big win.  Parker Moore and the Wildcats’s of Linfield had to beat Pacific University to make a 6th straight appearance in the NCAA Division III football playoffs; something the Cats did easily 59-0.

When he went to the 7-11 in McMinnville, Oregon last night after 11 Pm, Moore 20 years old, was just starting his adult life and looking ahead.  That would all change in a moment that he, nor anyone, could have ever expected as a man in the store attacked him with a knife fatally wounding him.  

#44 from Woodinville was Parker Moore. He lost his young life on 11-15-14.

Life was taken a short while thereafter from Parker Moore after being transported to the hospital.

The killer actually came back into the store after police arrived and after some sort of interaction and some gun fire he too lay dead.  One Joventino Bermudaz Arenas, 33, had ruined himself and taken a member of the Linfield (OR),  Woodinville (WA), and the Pacific Northwest football community; and more importantly his direct family and friends who by all accounts we have read are many in number and of course suffering immense grief and sadness.

We can ask why God would let this happen or be mad that some insane person did this.  

Tonight however we just all want to offer huge prayers and condolences to anyone this effected.  So many NW prep football players that we have covered and followed are still competing in the the game at Linfield.  We heard many stories and already know what the loss Parker’s death represents.

They say to focus on how a person lived and not how they died and I believe that.  From my view Parker was a star streaking across the night sky for all to see.  Watching his High School film showed us a true competitor that could explode off of the ball and beat bigger and faster players.  He seemed to have a laser focus on finding the man with the football and unleashing a hurricane’s fury on them

When these sort of things happen we try to reflect and connect and support those left in the wake of the tragedy.   What sad condition or dementia Arenas must have been suffering to cause him to take this magnificent life I do not know.  

But he took it and it will never return.  Now the people Parker impacted will forever carry him and his ideals and memories forward.

Sawyer Whalen of Woodinville High plays for Dartmouth now.  He played with Parker Moore and was friends with him and tonight he was kind enough to share his memories with us.

“He was an incredible athlete, teammate, and friend. He helped Woodinville football to their first 12-1 season (2011) in the school’s history. He was a leader on the field and in the classroom. He was the type of kid who would never give up. He knew he wanted to keep playing football and never let the whole recruiting process, which can be so difficult, effect his passion for the game and his passion at becoming better whether it be in the classroom or building his character.

Parker was a great guy always laughing and making people smile and that is the thing I think people should remember about him. He was so fun to be around and never made anyone feel less of a person than him.

He was the type of person that made you feel welcome no matter who you were. Our football team in 2011 was the closest team I have ever been a part of and he was one of the core dudes. He was a member of what we called the “Boom Squad” (Linebackers) and he was by far an inspiration to our defense that played so well that season. It has been a rough day for the Woodinville family and it has not been easy losing a brother.

Losing a teammate and a friend has been very hard for all of us especially in such a tragic way as this. It is hard not to be angry because of the way it happened, but after having many long talks with a lot of the guys from home I think the important thing is to remember the good things about Parker, and not necessarily the tragedy of his passing.

Everyone knows that Parker was a great man and was the type of guy I would want my daughter (when I have one) or my sisters to marry. A true stand up guy.

Another Close Woodinvillle friend and team mate of Parker’s was Dane Hawkins- Dane updates our story today with his Memories-

“Parker was simply my best friend. There’s no other way to word it. Since second grade we trusted each other, relied on each other, and looked after each other. Parks and I did everything together and I’ll never forget the memories we made. We planned our life together. Trey, Parker, and I were going to buy out a culdesac and have our own private area to raise our family and be together forever. Our kids were going to be best friends just like we were.

Parker was an amazing person. He had such an intelligent head on his shoulders and the biggest heart in the world. I trusted him with my life and he did the same with me. The amount of hours we spent just the two of us talking and exchanging advice will never be forgotten. He made me happy and was my escape when I needed it. Parker never let me down and he never will.

I’ll love him forever and I’m so blessed that my best friend is now an angel to guide me. I know he will be by my side forever I just wish it was physically. I can’t accept what happened and not being angry is the hardest part. He wouldn’t want me to be mad though, Parker would want me and our friends to move on in life and make him proud.

Parker is and will always be the spitting image of how I want me future son to conduct himself. Parker was funny, compassionate, respectful, and successful. I cannot describe a more perfect person and leader. He knew right from wrong and had the best balance in his life.
I can’t listen to certain songs anymore or go certain places because it’s too hard but I would have rather had Parker and lost him than never of had him at all. What happened to Parker is senseless and not fair but it happened to him because Parker was a good enough person to move on to a happier place. Parker passed God’s test and my only goal from here on out is to make him proud of me. I want to live my life like Parker. And someday when I see him again I know the void will be filled finally and Parker will tell me I made it.
The support from Woodinville and Linfield has been tremendous and I want to thank everyone for that. Most of us will never understand this but it’s not something we can understand.

My last time with Parker was in August and I vividly remember him putting his arm around me and saying, “Dane, you’re my brother and my best friend. I’ll have your back for life and together we’re invincible.” It’s true, when I was with Parker there’s nothing we couldn’t do. The amount of trouble we got into together, experiences we had, and memories made will be with me forever.

I love you Parker and I always will. No one will replace you in my life and I can’t wait for the day I can be with you again. You don’t deserve this and I don’t know where to begin my life without you’re friendship and guidance. All I know is you’re the man, you’re my best friend, and you’re my brother. People always said Parker and I were similar enough to be brothers and it’s because we were. We are, and we always will be.

Parker Moore is my best friend. I’ve known him through football for years

but it wasn’t until high school that we became best friends. Parker always had the

extraordinary ability to include everybody. He was always among the most popular

people I knew, but never fit into one clique over another. People were drawn

towards him. He was always a very genuine person who treated everybody with

respect, and that is why he was so well liked. Parker was gifted in many ways, and

he always impressed me with his ability to have balance. He was always a

tremendous competitor with an unbelievable work ethic so it’s no surprise that he

was a great football player and all around athlete. All year round he was a great

example of how to work hard and lead by doing. He was always a successful student.

Parker also always had a strong relationship with his friends and family. I can’t

think of a single time when Parker wasn’t there for me. He was strong in his faith

and a great example to me and everyone else around him. Parker also knew how to

have a great time. I’ll never forget our endless memories on the boat in the summer,

road trips, or playing golf in any and every imaginable condition. Whatever the

activity was, Parker would just do anything to make it happen. He was just that kind

of guy that was always up for anything. Parker and I always looked forward to the

future years, and I believe he had much left to do in this life. Unfortunately he won’t

get that opportunity, but he will always be watching after me and all of those close

to him from above, and I am lucky to have an angel to guide me from here on out.
