Woodland RB Cy Whitmire – Week 1 GSHL Football Player Of The Week

GSHL Football will be awarding a Player Of The Week every week this season.

To be considered for Player Of The Week an athlete must have an outstanding performance in his teams WIN over an equally matched opponent.

Week 1 of the 2011 season had plenty of big time performances.

Cy Whitmire, RB/DB Woodland was selected as the New Athlete Player of the Week for Week 1.

Whitmire had 173 rushing yards on 20 carries and 2 interceptions as well as a 58 yard fumble return for a touchdwon, helping his Beavers to a 48-33 win over Kalama Friday night.

Woodland had a whole lot of stand out players in their 48-33 win over Kalama Friday night. Cy’s younger brother RB Eli Whitmire had the top Greater St. Helens League opening week rushing yards total with 211 on 19 carries and he also had 3 rushing touchdowns. WR Nick Fuller only had 2 receptions on the night, but he made both count as each went for touchdowns. Senior RB Zach Falk added another 73 rushing yards on 10 carries.
