5 Must Attend NW Football Camps

5 Must Attend NW Football Camps

Like we do every year we are vetting out the best of best camps and making you all a recommendation.  There are a lot of new players and some of the big Nationals too but the facts are the facts.  Only a few get our NWPR Camp Stamp of approval.  We are not likely to endorse any events we have not reviewed, been to, nor those with no track record.

YOU ARE A RECRUIT AND YOU ARE THE MAIN ATTRACTION IN THE LARGEST CIRCUS IN THE PREP SPORTS WORLD –  SO LISTEN UP!

NWPR’s Rules of Engagement For Football Camps

1.  First and Foremost Only Attend Camps with College Coaches Present if at all possible.  The reason is if their are no decision makers present you are likely not helping yourself.  Their are exceptions to this rule.

2.  If Major Media is at an event and is honestly covering the event and not just standing around that can be a good event to attend.  This is NOT YOUR LOCAL PAPER- This would need to be NWPR, NEI, SCOUT, RIVALS, 247 Sports, or the like.  Those are the big names.  If us Media types are there and you take the time to Network then this is an important event.

3.  If Major Media and College Coaches are at an event that is a Must Attend-

4.  Combines are not that important – rarely if ever go to one.  Nike has a free event that is full and the Barton Combine is a proven help to get a feel for where you are at – College Coaches rarely put much stock in the Combines or their results- They are anecdotal at best and can hurt a kid that poorly performs so make sure you have the right to scratch your scores.

5.  If you go throughout your Summer and never attend a College camp or recruiting event / visitation you have failed for the most part.  TOO MANY ATHLETS ATTEND ALL SHOWCASE EVENTS AND YET NEVER MEET A COLLEGE STAFF!  The Guys Who WIN THE RECRUITING GAME are the ones hitting up between 1 and 10 colleges in the Spring and Summer – put yourself out there- call the football offices and ask to attend any and all events they have.  These experiences are like no other and the decision makers will meet you first hand.  LISTEN TO ME ON THIS-  I have confirmed this position with dozens of college coaches and recruiters!

Now having said all that is going to be a busy May and June so here are the events we are confirmed to be at and that we Believe are the best Camps for you to learn, to shine, and to get your recruiting game elevated  –

Barton Football 7 on 7

Barton -Battle in Seattle-

May 24th at Interlake hs-  Teams compete in a High Level Round Robin Tourney

and

-Rose City Rumble- Sunday May 31st, 2015- Portland, Oregon

Teams will consist of Grade 7 and Up and individual players without a Team

can sign up and will be on a Rogue Squad which is a lot of fun for sure!

Now a Word on 7-on-7

I am a staunch critic of all 7 on 7.  It is not the same as Live padded football so judging someone from these events is very inaccurate and College Coaches are not putting that much stock in these events.  There are way to many of them.  I have a hard time supporting many if any of these events as I have seen significant head trauma almost at every event.  You better have damn good medical and concussion insurance if you are going.  Having said all of this I am supporting any team or event manager where the entire event is requiring 100% of the players to wear a Game Breaker Helmet.  There are the only certified 7 on 7 Helmet made for 7 on 7 and while they can not stop all the Traumatic Brain Injuries they can help with most of them!  Barton Football has agreed to and is REQUIRING 7 on 7 helmets from Game Breaker to be worn at the two events mentioned above.  Therefore I will be there as will my camera crew.  We want to support Barton Football for taking up the challenge.  I arranged for their teams and all Teams coming to have the Helmets at Cost and I am offering that to any of you at any level reading this!  Call me at 503-799-8383 NOW!

IF YOU ARE SENDING YOUR PLAYERS TO A 7 On 7 without a Game Breaker Helmet you are putting them in harms way and may be named in Litigation as this has already begun.  This means you coaches and schools as well as you parents and Team Event Managers.

-We Will be at the Barton 7 on 7 Events-

NIKE’s THE OPENING REGIONAL CAMP

UNIVERSITY OF OREGON –  FREE

JUNE 14th, 2015

Nike Football The Opening

Formerly known as the NIKE FOOTBALL TRAINING CAMP –  These camps are sort of invite only and Nike and the Staff at StudentSports.com go after who they think the best up and coming talent is.  The Camp is an amazing event – fast paced and top performers get considerations for the Opening in July at Nike.  Not really any collegiate guys at these camps to speak of but the Nike Staff is amazing and all have deep roots and connections into Football and have their eyes on the campers.  Lots of Media.  This is a Must Attend if you can get in.  Every year there are walk ups who insist on getting in and many have success this way.

If you want in still try to get in try contacting one of these Camp managers.  Again no promises-

Michael White – Midwest/Northeast (michael@studentsports.com)
Todd Huber – Linemen (todd@studentsports.com)
Michael Fletcher – Running Backs/Linebackers/Volunteer Coaches (fletcher@studentsports.com)
Eugene Jackson – Defensive Backs (eugene@studentsports.com)
Brian Stumpf – West/Southeast (brian@studentsports.com)

Do you have current information on 2016 camps? My son attended trench camp Seattle last year and will attend again this year. He plays o line! Any other camp suggestions would be appreciated.
