Grant Taylor (6-2 220 FB/LB Jr.) is one of the top linebackers in Oregon and one best overall athletes in the Pacific Northwest. He is currently ranked #23 on the Oregon Preps Top 100 list and looks like a D1 athlete on both the football and baseball field.
17 kids within the State of Oregon have already received D1 or D1 AA offers. Taylor looks to be one of the next athletes in line with his freakish combination of size and speed. As a Sophomore he received first team all league and third team all state honors on the diamond. He is currently tearing up the Three Rivers Conference just as he did during the football season.
The lefty hit .443 as a sophomore with 2 Hr’s, and continues to dominate this season with a .435 BA, .891 Slugging Pct, and 4 HR’s. He is a legit candidate for Three Rivers Conference Player of The Year, and is also regarded as one of the top 30 baseball players in Oregon by Baseball Northwest.
Taylor was recognized as a second team all league linebacker this past season. He has heard from a variety of schools that include Oregon St, Boise St, Idaho, Stanford, Army, Air Force, E.Washington, and N.Dakota.
Taylor will be attending the Stanford NIKE (NFTC) and then the University of Oregon Nike (NFTC) on June 5th. He also plans on being at the day camps of Oregon St, Boise St, Idaho, and PSU.
The Lake Oswego Star is closely compared to Liberty standout Brett Bafaro (6-2 220 FB/LB Jr.) who currently holds three offers and could go fairly high in the MLB Draft. Both are highly regarded outfielders who just so happen to play fullback and linebacker.
Big left handers that can run like the wind are highly courted regardless of where they play so you can see why colleges are after the pair. Taylor has been clocked at (4.7) and has 10 stolen bases to show for it, Bafaro a (4.53).
Taylor shuns praise and refers to his family , coaches, and teammates for putting him in the position he is today.
“I have learned a lot from the Seniors and gained valuable experience over the past season,” he offered.
Lake Oswego always has outstanding youth programs and Taylor feels fortunate to have Head football Coach Steve Coury and Head baseball coach Jake Anders leading the way.
“Coach Coury has played a big role in my life growing up,” said Grant. Coach’s Son Stevie Coury(5-10 165 WR Jr.) has been a close friend since childhood.
