Wilder A Top 2014 Choice At QB Spot

The QB Class of 2014 is going to be another great crop.  With Nick Mitchell of Mt Si leading the way a few others are moving up the ranks and making their case to be next to step up to the plate and grab a scholarship!

aidan wilder 980 In Oregon of the of the next gunslingers we see landing a scholarship is 3 year starter Aidan Wilder of Central Catholic.  It seems like just yesterday we watched the wiry quick QB step into the lime-light as only a freshmen when the Rams lost their first and second string players.

The first couple downs were a little shaky but Wilder showed he could run and elude pressure and he made some big plays.  That was a peek into what would be back to back seasons in 2011 and 2012 as the leader of the Rams who went deep into the playoffs both years.

With guys like Connor Humphreys and Ryan Nall and Cameron Scarlett to back him up Wilder might just lead the 2013 Rams all the way to the State Championship.  The kid has just the full compliment and has been training and working out in preparation of his Senior year.

Will he in 2013 go beyond his 2012 stats where he cranked up a terrific 2100 yards and 18 TD’s passing and his 520 yards and 8 TD’s on the ground?  No doubt he should.  It is those sort of numbers and 9-3 Season, with losses only coming against Top 3 opponents, that has coaches and recruiters interested.

So as a Top 3 QB in Oregon we had to check in on the recruiting action.

“The Boise State head coach sent me a hand written letter inviting me to their camp.  Colorado State has been in pretty constant contact and Eastern Washington wants me at their camp.,” said Aidan.  “I talked to the EWU QB coach last year and he said he liked me.  Also UC Davis invited me to Junior Day and camp.”

Portland State has their eye on his as a QB or Athlete as he is one fine defensive player and many feel could play Rb or Slot as well.    His film shows how he moves and this 3.78 student is at the top of the athletic curve when we look at the other QB candidates out there.  At 5’11” and 195 lbs he is a load to bring down and is just really shifty and quick.  As far as Football IQ and knowledge his coaches and those that watch closely rave about him.

He added, “I am going to Utah for a few camps as well.   Utah State and Southern Utah and Weber State are all on the schedule.”

He is going to be one busy busy guy!

How about the Rams?

“We are looking very good.  We have a lot of guys lifting hard and running track too.”

We know Coach Steve Pyne and his terrific group of seasoned Coaches will be ready and have these guys tuned up.  It is going to be an exciting year for them and we fell Wilder will be the spoke around which the Rams wheel will turn.  A high character kid with a great head on his shoulder Aidan is all a college program could or should hope for!

Stay tuned all year for more on Aidan Wilder and the CC Rams!
