The #2 Recruit in Oregon has made his decision and will stay in State instead of accepting one of the many other suitors he has had. Central Catholics Alex Balducci has made a verbal commitment to play for the Oregon Ducks in 2012 after graduation from CC. We have the scoop on what drove this early decision.
“Things were getting crazy. I just got offers from Arizona State, Cal, and Utah and the phones have been ringing off the hook,” said Alex. “The best thing for me was to end this and make a great decision to play for the Ducks.”
Balducci, the 6’4″ 270 pound Defensive Tackle, is an Army All American Game commit and one of the top rated athletes on the West Coast. He credits Coach Jerry Azzinaro for making the difference.
“It was down to Washington and the U of O. I liked both schools, both teams, and both coaching staffs. But there was a great fit between me and Coach Azzinaro so I decided this was it.”
He says he is slated to play defensive tackle for the Ducks and feels he can compete very well in their aggressive defense. Something that fits his personality for sure.
This decision keeps him in Oregon and close to home and for Alex and his family that was a consideration.
“My folks are so happy. They liked both schools but this just keeps me closer and you know they will be really involved and there for my games,” he concluded mentioning the closeness to his folks and family too.
What’s next then? Have his plans changed?
Balducci says he will now have a little free time,”I had a big California trip coming up with multiple stops but that is off now. Really my Summer is all about Spring ball which starts this Thursday and about helping my team.”
The Rams will be in pretty good shape as they are loaded at many of the skill positions. Only the O’Line needs to be beefed up before the season. Something Alex will help with as a two way starter.
