The Curtis High School Vikings have outscored opponents 157-42 this season and made it to an impressive 4-1 mark. And this loaded squad is rolling into mid season 2012 with a full head of steam. EJ Deveaux is an absolute beast at their running back spot and looks to be making a big for All League and All State considerations.
But the secret to sucess for the Vikings may well be up front along the line. On offense and defense these guys are loaded! Zach Budnick and Chris Coffin are both 6'4" and 280 pounds and along that Offensive Line they are monsters. Same goes for defense.
But a 3rd threat in Andrew Potter Maul is an equally potent weapon for Curtis. The 6'3"-260 pounder is getting it done on both sides and we recently reviewed his film. He plays Center and Defensive End.
He looks good on both sides of the ball but shines at the Defensive End spot where his nose for the football and ability to shed blocks really comes out.
All Three of these College Bound linemen are on our Best 2013 Prospects in Washington List. Andrew answered the call and challenge we made to all collegiate hopefuls to get their mid season film out. This is the type of thing that is helping guys like Andrew stand out. In response we run this story and post his film.

I have come along way since I was a Freshman. I am much stronger, much bigger, and playing smart.
On: What is your favorite part of the Football season?
Friday Nights without a doubt. It may sound cliche but you realize how all the hard work pays off when you"re playing on Friday!
In a year from now what do you want to look back on and remember about this season that is just ahead?
That I gave everything I could from an athletic standpoint; especially but also for being a leader and helping to keep the team rolling and ready to play.
Name some guys who you have been impressed with on your team? Any surprises or young guys standing out?
EJ Deveaux as you already know is a stud!
Zach Budnick playing line with me; Great Athlete! Chris Coffin went down with a knee sprain week 2 but he will be returning very soon. Also a stud! Anthony Davis. A hard hitting safety about 6'4, 210. Also playing TE on offense. Senior. Impressive Junior class, LB Calvin Mclain, QB Scott Wismer, RB Mitchel Hersey, WR/DB Carter Mckay. Also, the rest of the D Line playing with me is playing very good Jacob Budnick (Sophomore, also filling in on offense for Coffin) and Darius Riddley and Odessa Mendoza both Juniors. |
|
ON: Why should a college recruit you when there are so many kids out there? What sets you apart?
I really think if I can get my name out there and get in contact with a coach he will see that I am ready and hungry to play football at the next level. He would get a hard working player willing to find a role somewhere on the team.
