Austin Otis A Quality Talent At Lake Stevens

Last fall Lake Stevens running back Austin Otis was getting his time as a backup for the Vikings gridiron gang.  When starter Brad Barry got hurt at mid season it vaulted Otis
to the starting slot.  The Junior scatback took it and ran with it…big time.

Otis ended up galloping for over 1,000 yards, finishing with 1007 yards on 115 carries, good for 8.8 yards a carry to go with 14 touchdowns. The speed merchant earned 1st team
All-Wesco 4A North honors for his rumblings on the field.

In his 2nd career start last season Otis gashed Arlington for 135 yards and 3 scores in a 45-21 victory. Later last fall, Austin went off for a school record 294 yards and
4 touchdowns, in a 57-21 romp over rival Snohomish.

Otis has started the 2013 season with a bang. The 5’10” 175 pound blazer zipped his way for 119 yards and a score in a tough non-league loss to Glacier Peak.  In last weekends
non-league battle against 3A powerhouse Marysville-Pilchuck Otis packed the pigskin 27 times for 211 yards and 2 touchdowns.  330 yards and 3 scores through 2 contests? Flat
out getting the job done.

The Viks have lost 2 tough non-league tilts but they should be ready to rumble when league play kicks off.  Lake Stevens moved their standout quarterback from a season ago in Gavin O’Neil
to wideout. Sophomore slinger Jacob Eason has taken over at quarterback for the Lake. The Vikings have another standout at receiver in senior burner Tevin Gray.  Their defense
is paced by linebacker CJ Lat, a bone crushing 6’1″ 200 pounder, and fellow backer Tanner Krenz.

Expect to see gigantic things the rest of the season from Lake Stevens senior Austin Otis…we will keep you posted.
