Biggest Football Showcase In NW History Set For June 8th

We knew it was going to be big just based upon the growth of the camp the last three years under Coach Jason Gesser's visionary leadership.  But the new owners of the Northwest Elite Football Camp have taken things to a whole new level.  And now the camp is expected to be the largest ever in the history of the Northwest; at least in the last decade.

The Camp will be held June 8th from 5-8 PM at Mercer Island High School and as of this posting it is at 550 registered athletes.  The camp will be capped once it hits 600.

That sets it up as the biggest showcase of its kind we have attended here in the Pacific Northwest.  While numbers are nothing to brag about it does speak to the history of this camp and what it has come to represent.

Over the past 4 years Former Head Eastside Catholic Head Coach and WSU great Jason Gesser held this camp as a way for colleges and kids to meet and be seen by each other.    That under current NCAA regulations is only allowed during a very limited time period.  While parents and kids may think there are many options for this sort of camp there are in fact not.  Nationally the NW ELITE Football Camp became one of the only camps of its kind and rose from 150 to about 400 campers over the run it had.

The collegiate coaches have come from all over and while that has been a draw it is the organizational piece, the excellent instruction, and the unbelievable financial value at $75 bucks.  Word traveled fast that kids were recruited right out of the Camp and while others have jumped in to emulate the Gesser formula it has been hard to duplicate.

Fast forward to this year and Coach Gesser is now a positional College Coach at Idaho.  We have new Camp owners in Washington's own Cole Morgan (Ballard HS, WSU, CWU QB) and Eddie Behringer (Ballard HS, UPS WR) but the vision has been handed off so very well.

"The camp will be bigger and better then ever.  More Colleges are coming including the entire Staff from the U of W, WSU, BSU, Arizona, PSU, EWU, Nevada, Wyoming, and the list goes on.   And yes…. Jason Gesser will be here as a representative of Idaho with their staff.   So the camp is going to be amazing," offered Morgan.

Now Cole wanted to let us know that the camp will officially close at 600 hundred registrants.  And that is expected to happen over the weekend.  So this is your shot to get in if you want in.

One of the main reasons the NW ELITE FOOTBALL CAMP is so affordable is the sponsorship of the Camp by a National company in Adrenaline Fundraising.  That firm is one of the largest companies in the Nation focused totally on HIgh School's and their ability to fund raise for their school sports.  And they saw this camp as a perfect way to give back.

Regional Manager David Wright talked about the Camp and the companies commitment to help by providing free T-Shirts and 5 scholarships for athletes in need to get into the camp.

"For us we work with almost 400 schools in the Pacific NW and over 200 football teams so we wanted to give back to High School kids and we started in football with this camp.  This was a perfect marriage of what we stand for and a camp we felt that would make a difference for the kids.  This is a long term approach for us and it is really exciting.  We want to be seen as supporters of this sort of thing and to be able to give back in this way to football is very rewarding and inline with other things we have done as a company to help out." said Wright.

We talked with him about his experiences in High School and why that has him looking forward to this camp.

"I know how expensive it for high school kids today because I have 2 sons Drew and our adopted son Laurence who is from Kenya participating in the camp.  Also my daughter Kylie will be on the high school girls basketball team next year at Stanwood.  We understand the commitment and the cost associated with high school sports so we are glad we can give back."

Wanting to make an immediate impact this season Wright says Adrenaline works hard to be a good partner across the Nation and that they try and give back when they can.  A former Stanwood HS (WA) Tight End and Defensive End and 1988 Graduate he is also a big supporter of High School athletics on a personal level.  He said the company can see a long term relationship forming with Morgan and Behringer and the NW Elite Sports group!

I agree Dirk, I think it\’s going to be great for the kids of this Region.  Any kid that has the opportunity to get to this event and doesn\’t is crazy.  Glad the kids from this area will have a chance to be seen by so many great schools.
