Born to Play Inside: The Michael Kluge Story

He is not a whole lot of fun to play football with. At least if your on the wrong side of the ball. Being across from MIchael Kluge of Aloha can be a very difficult experience for opposing linemen.

Born to play inside Kluge is the epitome of a low leverage guy. What that means simply is that he is going to be so low and so powerful that you are not going to stop him. At 5’10” and 280 pounds Kluge is every bit the athlete.

This year he is leaner, faster, and more agile then he has ever been. And if Aloha powers up the way we think they will you can bet that Michael will be right in the midst

At 5'10" and 280 pounds Kluge is every bit the athlete.

This year he is leaner, faster, and more agile then he has ever been.  And if Aloha powers up the way we think they will you can bet that Michael will be right in the midst of it.

At the core of his special skill set is his frame.  It is massive.  His arms and shoulders are amongst the biggest we have ever seen on a High School athlete.  His arms have plenty of length too.

His back is massive, his legs enormous, and his chest is a wall to put it mildly.  Michael unofficially broke the National Bench Press record for his age group with near 420 pounds.

He is a special kid.  Trying to get him out of the way is impossible.  This guy is the poster child for the term "Immovable Object".

It was two seasons ago when he was just a 10th grader that we realized he was something special.  The Warriors were making their amazing run to the State Championships and were in a dog fight against a very tough Lake Oswego team.  The game was tight.  The Lakers were moving the ball when the Warrior defense popped the ball loose.

As we watched the ball bounced back and up and was literally within the grasp on one of the Lakers when Kluge rumbled through the line, snatched it out of mid air, and ran to the end zone in unstoppable fashion for what proved to be the winning points in a 17-16 last minute classic.

That was two seasons ago.  Now the heavy-weight wrestler with his tank like frame is preparing to do battle.  And this is one focused kid.  Always quiet Michael spoke to us about the year ahead and his hopes for college.  That is attached here for your review.

AT 5'10" he can play guard or Defensive Tackle or Nose Guard.  Inside the trenches we believe he could play at the collegiate level and be an impact guy.  While it is not unheard of for a kid 5'10" to be recruited into college as a linemen it is unusual.  But this kid with his skill set can do it.  Any coach looking at this story better look close and give Michael Kluge a serious look.  So far we have not seen any of the top O'linemen handle him.

We will continue to bring you more on Michael Kluge and hope you will take a look at the interview and the highlight film below.  This is one special kid and one heck of a team mate for his Warriors who he would do anything for.
