Cameron Scarlett’s National Appeal Is Upon Us

Two or three athletes from the 2015 Class in Oregon are moving into what can be called a “Super- Recruit” Status.  By my own definition that is when a kid leaps the confines of his State and or Region and gains the attention of Coaches, Media, and Fans on a National basis.  Every year we see these kids appear and they lead the rest of the Class forward pulling all of the top players in the Region upward as they go.

Cameron Scarlett, #22 for Central Catholic, was only visible from behind most of the 2013 season and that is not likely to change.

They are important guys to have and to celebrate because they provide us with high platform from which to have our NW Region shine.  In Oregon in the Class of 2015 one of those kids is Central Catholic High School Junior Cameron Scarlett.

The 6’1″- 208 lb. Running Back / athlete was a main cog in the Rams Offensive attack and at times was unstoppable.  It’s not hsi size or his speed or his quickness that set him apart.  It is sort of all of the above.  He reminds me a lot of Joe Mixon who is this years #1 Running Back.  A big rangy kid who can beat you to the edge and out muscle you and can run between the tackles as well.  Scarlett had a terrific Sophomore Year and followed that up with a stellar Junior Season helping his squad to a 14-0 perfect season and earning All League and All State Honors.

Watch his film here-

Cameron Scarlett-  2014 Totals
Rushing:  141 Rushes- 1654 Yards- 11.63 Yards per carry 1,654  22 TD
Receiving:  33 Catches- 674- 21 Yards Average   674   7 TD
Kick Returns – 15 for 546 yards – Average 37 yards   546    4 TD

That is 2,874 yards of Total Offense.  And look at those Kick Return and receiving totals.  There is the allure of this big time kid.  He can do it all.  Most straight Running Backs can not.  Let me be so bold as to say this is next Years All American from Oregon; at least one of them in a year where there should be 3 or 4.

Cameron did all of that while future Oregon State Beaver and Phenom Ryan Nall was getting it done as well out of the Backfield showcasing his speed and 230 lb mass to the tune of 2,000 yards and 25 TD’s too!  Ryan is moving on big time and WOW what a duo they made!  It was truly special!

His brother Brennan is a US Army All American and is coming into his 3rd season at Cal and this could well be his break out year after battling through some injuries.  The Scarlett boys run Track and play hoops and are consummate students as well.  So look for Cameron to be firing on all Pistons and have the entire Pac 12 offering him before this is over.

Last time we wrote on him he had received his first offer from Oregon State and Washington State.  A few days back he let us know that he had 2 more schools make him an offer as well.  ASU and BYU have moved into the mix on young Mr Scarlett so this is going to be interesting no doubt –  imagine where he will be a year from now as signing day comes along.  We can expect 10-30 offers and for a Running Back from the State of Oregon, with the recent exception of Thomas Tyner, that is almost unheard of.

“These last two offers were really exciting for me. Since my Dad went to BYU that offer makes him proud which means a lot to me.  BYU was on of the first schools to really start recruiting me pretty hard.  It was a really honoring offer.  And  Arizona State was huge because they had such a good year last year and that program is really on the rise. They finished in the top 25 which is also very exciting and I really like both schools offense.  Both schools interest me a lot and I’m excited to see more about their programs”

What more can we say.   We were late on this story so there it is guys and gals.  Cameron Scarlett will lead what appears to be a real Bumper crop of kids into 2014 on their way to the 2015 signing period.  More to follow.
