Chiawana Riverhawks Rumbling – Eastside Powerhouse Rising

Over on the Eastside of the mountains looms a legitimate state 4A title contender in the Tri-Cities own Chiawana Riverhawks. The mighty Hawks are soaring at 3-0 on the
campaign with some big lopsided wins. Chiawana from Pasco, is currently ranked 4th in the state AP polls.
Joey Zamora of Chiawana was a stand out at the NWEFC Camp and is a Top QB this season!

The Riverhawks have been bolstered greatly by Florida transfer Deion Singelton. Deion is a highly recruited receiver/cornerback, who can flat out fly. Last weekend in the Hawks 42-7
win over Richland, the speedy 6’2″ 175 pound senior grabbed 7 balls for 159 yards and two touchdowns. The cheetah quick corner also returned an interception 98 yards for a score.
Chiawana is led by their rocket tossing 3 year starting quarterback Joey Zamora. The 6’2″ 215 pound senior has been slinging it all over the yard so far this season. Zamora hit on 18 of 23
passes for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win over Richland. In week 2, Joey threw for 234 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 48-0 romp over Kennewick. In the season opening 43-7 victory
over Hanford, Zamora tossed the rock for 236 yards and 2 scores, while running in another score.
What makes the Hawks rumble is their three talented bulldozers up front. Returning 1st team All-Mid Columbia Conference offensive lineman Chandler Newell and Kayden Maughen really make the Riverhawks dangerous. Returning 2nd team all-league defensive lineman Mark DeRuyter is their top defensive brute up front.
Those road graders have paved the way for slippery running back Clifton Lozano to gash defenses for over 100 yards in each of the first three ball games. The 5’7″ 180 Lozano ran for 162 yards
and 3 total touchdowns in the victory over Richland.
The defense is paced by bone crushing linebacker Alex Weber, a 6’1″ 220 pound senior. Webber is a three year starter and is being recruited by several schools. He is a 4.0 student and a
workhorse on the gridiron also. Fellow big hitting linebacker Grady Graff adds to the defensive prowess. Graff, a 6’0″ 200 pound senior is also the Hawks sticky fingered tight end. Graff snared
6 catches good for 74 yards in the Richland game.
Returning 2nd team all league defensive back Blake Bishop is yet another senior standout at Chiawana this fall. The nimble 5’9″ 175 pounder is another outside target for Zamora as well.
The senior laden Riverhawks look to have the talent to make a lot of noise this fall.
After outscoring their opponents 133-14 through 3 battles, think people better watch out for them?  Yes sir.
