Into the Camp and Combine fray this Summer came an unknown from Gooding, Idaho. Big and Powerful Cole McGinnis brought some raw power with his obvious size to the mix did not even flinch when challenged by the best upper classmen in the Pacific NW; many of whom are on their way to Pac 12 schools.
You see Cole is just heading into his Junior season and at 6'4" and now 270 pounds he stood out as one of the best looking kids from a physique stand point. He is every bit a farm boy and smiled as he admitted to that.
Clearly he has a long way to go as far as his technical skill set but he proved that he could be coached and learned a lot as we witnessed him at the three events we covered during Football Super Weekend in early June. His best asset is his motor and his demeanor. This is the sort of guy you want backing you up in a fight. Not that we are advocating fighting. But if you had to McGinnis would probably finish whatever you started.
There is some bite in his bark and he was tough as nail in the 1-1 drills. A great example of a kid who has the heart and the ability. The skills will complete the package.
Cole is one example of the top guys we met this Summer from Idaho and in our continuing efforts to put the boys of the NW on the Map. Oregon and Washington have seen an explosive growth in the number of recruits getting offers to colleges and our non stop 7 years of work has certainly pushed that agenda. Now it is time for Idaho (and Montana) to make the leap. Look for Cole to continue on his Journey and we will bring his story to you.
The interview we have on him is below and if your in Idaho and have an 8-12th grader, Girl or Boy, wishing to add themselves to our New Idaho Site please see IdahoPrepStars.com. It is Free and is a Terrific Offering!
