Connor Humphreys Takes MVP In Los Angeles

The Rivals Camp series presented by Under Armour were held this past weekend. One in Chandler, Arizona and the other in Los Angeles, California. To put it bluntly these were simply amazing camps. The invite only format meant that athletes coming in to camp needed to have an FBS level offer or be given a waiver by staff to get in. So this was the best of the best.

And you know the boys of the NW were not going to miss out on their chance to shine.  A few of our best made the trip and the first one we have caught up with so far is Central Catholic stud Defensive End Connor Humphreys.

With 5 offers coming in and ASU, OSU, and Boise State leading that group Humphreys was looking to add to his credentials.  The 6’4″ – 240 lb hard charging kid wants to be an All American and you can bet he will do all he can to stand out anytime he is in a position to do so.

So how was the Camp in Los Angeles for Connor?  After all the best in the West were there.

Great!  He won the Camp MVP for Defensive Line.

connor humphreys rivals cmap MVP We are coming to expect so much from this kid.  But we should as he comes from a great background, he is so well coaches, and has dedicated himself to becoming the best linemen he can be.

Connor actually has offers to play offensive line in college but seeing a kid as big as he is move like he does off the ball is impressive.  Hard to see how he would not be a more dangerous weapon on the Defensive front.

A superior hand fighter, Humphreys has the quick twitch reflex needed to dominate on the defensive line.  It is hard to see how many offensive linemen will handle him.  We can see Connor going very far and the kid who dreams on being an All American is actually well on his way.

“It was a good camp.  Really good coaches and some tough competition.  I am just happy going down to Cali and going against some of the best Cali kids and winning.  Proving Oregon kids can compete was awesome,”  said the always collected kid. ” I had fun! It was an exciting atmosphere to be in.  I think the 1 on 1’s was the deciding factor for the MVP.”

So if a kid goes off and hits most camps there is no one watching who can really give them a boost in the media.  Not the case with this one.  Rivals is still the #1 recruiting network by a substantial margin and all of the National analysts were there.  These are the guys who are heavily trusted and followed Nationally including Mike Farrell who most experts believe to be the Nation’s #1 voice in the space.

Getting the MVP has already paid off.

“I think Colorado State and CAL are definitely impressed with this award as coaches from both schools have contacted me today saying congrats.  And I am visiting Cal on the 23rd so I am excited to meet coach Dykes and see the campus,” concluded the big man.

We spent 3 days with Connor last Summer at Stan Brock’s Trench Camp where the battles were in Pads.  And they went on for hours not minutes.  So we already know how good this kid can be.  He was the Co-MVP of that camp and plans to make a return this year to work with the best NFL linemen to ever come from the Region.

By the way the TrenchCamp is open for registration and filling up already.  If your a linemen and you want to work with the best line coaches out there get to this camp.  Humphreys plans to go back for sure and has given the coaches high praise for helping him excel.

Great job for Connor Humphreys.  More stories from the Rivals Camp Series coming this week!
