At 6’2.5″ and 215 pounds Devante Downs will be the biggest running back in the region. |
This is another one of those “wow” moments when you realize how great some of these young athletes are. No one can lay claim to having more upside in the Class of 2014 and he has not even taken a snap yet. But boy the talent is there and we will all know in a week or two. Mountlake Terrace has a real talent on their hands.
That talent comes in the form of 6’2.5″, 215 pound in coming Sophomore (2014) Running backDevante Downs. This big power back is special. Very special. Something he made obvious at the Nike NFTC Camp at the U of W this Summer where he looked like one of the top 3 backs out there.
Downs is tall and muscular but has that lean muscle mass that tells of his explosive potential. And at his current size he is going to be the biggest power back in the region. Something he looks forward to.
“I know I am getting big and people like to say that I will not last at the RB spot. That is ok,” said Downs. “But I am figuring to make the best of it while I can.”
He will play RB and Strong Safety and that should allow him a place to show what he can do. This will be a break out year for the kid who is known locally and soon to be regionally.
Devante added that he plans to pursue some other sports too, “I plan to play basketball and maybe go out for Track too.”
This 3.67 student sure looks like the real deal. A lot goes into being a top recruit. Devante Downs sure seems to be on his way up!
