Devin Benford was a fresh face last season for Skyline but made his presence known in more ways then one.

There are a number of top recruits in the Skyline High School football program. With Max Browne being the #1 QB in the Nation and a USC commit it is easy to see how it might be hard for other guys to gain the attention of Coaches. But having Max in the house sure helps in terms of having Coaches watch your team.

Being a Skyline Spartan helps a lot too as this program is synonymous with the words "Football Powerhouse".

Devin Benford was a fresh face there last season after he move from Texas where he was a 3A Division Sophomore of the year. But the 6'4" – 210 pound Line Backer went to work and kept improving as the season went along.

He impressed our staff at the State Championship in the big win over Skyline with his speed and athleticism. So when we caught up to him today for an interview we were not too surprised when he told us he had just been offered by Wyoming.

Devin is quiet, relaxed, and well spoken. He was excited for the offer and said it was a really a great feeling.

"They said they loved my film and my speed and felt my long arms can be put to use at the linebacker spot. Coach Tormey called to let me know they were offering me," said Benford who is on the radar somewhat with this offer surely to increase his recruiting and his collegiate interest.

"I spoke to UW a little and have an invite to the WSU Camp too. I am going to the NW ELITE Camp (former Gesser Camp) I think and the Nike NFTC and just working hard to improve."

Those events are the top camps coming into the Region this June to start off the Football Summer action and he should stand out. Having the Wyoming offer helps a lot as far as credibility and commanding respect. The Cowboys have developed an appetite for NW Talent and have been devouring kids from Washington and Oregon setting up camp here. And why not? The kids they have are helping them win.

Benford is doing Track right now and plans to move right into football and then into the season where he is fired up.

"The team is almost all back. We lost some linemen for sure but the defense is still intact for the most part. It should be a great season for us," he added.

That season will open against a loaded Bothell which will have the Spartans once again taking on the Blue Train in an epic battle. Other games include Cottonwood of Utah and that game will be an ESPN Game and they play Idaho State Champs Cour d'alene.

He has moved around a lot and came here form Texas. He shared his thoughts about Texas football when compared to the Pacific Northwest.

"The linemen are bigger there and maybe it is a little bit crazier. But Skyline is all about football so it is very similar to Texas really," he added.

Now with all these schools calling and a 4.64 40 yard dash to his name we asked him if he had a dream school.

He thought for a moment and said, "I would have to say Texas A & M has always been my dream. But I am happy having opportunities like this one too."

Whatever happens he has moved himself up into the top of the pack with this offer and we will cover Devin and his emerging story over the next few months as well.

Congrats to Devin on this big development.
