We followed that up with a visit to his home town in the Summer where he looked even better in a fun 7 on 7 fundraiser we helped with for injured Priest River Idaho player Bobby Clark. As the 2013 season began were able to catch Drew in the season opener against West Linn (Oregon) and a week later against Bothell (WA) as the Vikings took to the road. Berger and his brother Chase Blakley led a great group as the Vikings went on to an emotion filled season ending in a State Title win 31-28 over powerhouse Highland.

This week we caught up to Berger who is riding the wave of a nice Boise State offer and is working to gain some additional interest.

“The Boise State offer was great for me. That just let me know all this non-stop work is going to be worth it. Now I am getting a lot of interest from a group of other schools like UCLA, ASU, USC, and Colorado,” said Berger who is no rated a 3 Star linebacker by Rivals.com.

What is hoping to add to his game this off season?

“Speed and size. There is no doubt I am a lot faster now then I was just a few months ago. And I am going to be a lot bigger and stronger. We are training as a team and I have a personal trainer that pushes me hard too,” Berger added.

He is now almost 6’2″ and over 230 lbs now. At the Rivals Performance Camps sponsored by Under Armour he looked great and was very physical showcasing above average speed and quickness. His ability to change direction is noteworthy.

“I will be at the Mercer Island Camp again. That is a great camp for sure so I will be there. After that we are setting some visits which could include some Ivy League schools and several Pac 12 options too. It is going to be a fun and busy off season for sure!”

That new found size and power in that frame is going to have Drew Berger at the very top of the hill for linebacker recruits this year out of the Pacific Northwest. Bigger Faster and Stronger! Yikes!

We will continue to bring your news about the Vikings and Drew Berger throughout the year so stay tuned.
