Folks let me tell you about an eastern Washington sensation in Yakima’s own Eric Briscoe-Hernandez, a superbly talented tight end/strong safety from AC Davis high school. This young
beast has been terrorizing the Columbia Basin Big Nine conference for 3 years now. Two seasons ago as a fab freshman, Briscoe was selected as a 2nd team all-conference tight end. Some
of that do his terrorizing blocking work up front.
As a super Sophomore, Eric flat out busted loose. He lit up the Big Nine conference like a firecracker on both sides of the rock. Briscoe was a 1st team all-league choice at tight end after snatching 32 balls for 393 yards and 6 touchdowns. The rock-solid missile was also a 2nd team AP 4A all-state selection for the Pirates at tight end. Defensively the crafty head hunter moved from linebacker to strong safety early in the season, and earned 2nd team all-conference there. Briscoe-Hernandez helped the Davis pigskin crew to a 4-6 record, after going winless in his freshman season.
This season (2014) the 6’4″ 210 pound junior had yet another rock solid campaign on the gridiron. Briscoe and his Pirates had their first ever playoff berth, and finished with a stellar 9-2 season. Eric played in 9 games, snaring 26 balls for 380 yards and 4 scores through the airways. He was chosen as a 1st team AP 4A all-state tight end for the Pirates. The Briscoe-Hernandez beast that is
was a 1st team all-league pick at both tight end and strong safety this campaign.
Keep your eyes out for this class of 2016 superstar next season, he is going to do big things!
Strong bloodlines here. If the name sounds familiar it is because his dad Eric Briscoe sr. was a standout strong safety for the University of Washington Huskies in the late 80’s, early 90’s. He was
a captain on the 1990 ball club that beat Iowa in the 91′ Rose Bowl.
