This week we brought you the story of Isaac Verduzco of Eisenhower High in Yakima, Washington. The Freshmen football player suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury a week ago and he is in critical care at Harborview Medical Center. HIs family is reeling trying to provide around the clock vigil for Isaac who is responsive but far from out of the woods. His life will never be the same but our help right now can support his family to support him. This is a situation where not only is he hurt but family members will risk losing their jobs to be with him.
What we can all do right now is donate to the cause. $5, $10, $25 dollars… it will all add up. The fundraiser on Go Fund Me is at just a tad under $12,000 and we have all helped increase it but it needs to hit $25,000 to fund. This is the Families fundraiser and your money goes to offset the bills that are racking up far beyond anything that money will cover. DONATE HERE
NWPR has donated $100 and we are challenging all of our Football media brothers and outlets to do the same. I want to personally challenge all the trainers, private coaches, 7 on 7 teams, and beyond to contribute too. This game belongs to all of us and our players are the lifeblood. When one falls on the field of battle we must all step up- it is not only right but expected!
Athletes all over: I challenge you to raise awareness about Isaac and what happened to him by wearing #ForIsaac on your gear. It can be a shoe, tape on a helmet, wrist ban, your arm, get creative- you all get this. If you do I want you to post a picture of that mark on your Twitter or Instagram and we will give you a mention and some love as well as a shot at $50 in an Amazon Gift Card giveaway when the fundraiser makes its goal! This is for Boys and Girls and anyone can get involved, athlete or not! Last night we had some big names get involved from around the NW – next week we want everyone on board!
