Ellensburg High School 3-sport phenom Garrett Hull has been terrorizing the Central Washington Athletic Conference for many years now and the crafty south paw just seems to be getting
better and better as he grows into a central Washington sports legend.
The pesky Hull began his varsity sports journey to stardom on the hardwoods with the Bulldogs hoop team as a freshman. The sharp shooting point guard started as a freshman, and helped lead the Burg to the State 2A tournament. The slick playmaker then stepped up his game and earned 1st team All-CWAC honors in pacing the Dogs as a super sophomore.
The fire balling lefty helped lead the Bulldogs to the state 2A title in baseball last spring. Ellensburg finished 22-5 on the diamond, upending Lake Washington to claim the crown. Garrett the
great was named a 1st team all-league pitcher following his tremendous junior season on the mound.
Hull started out last fall leading the E-burg football squad before suffering a knee injury in game #3. The rocket slinging signal caller had already piled up 607 yards passing and 183 yards rushing before he went down. He missed all of his junior basketball season as well, but came back for his brilliant baseball ride. The Bulldogs carried on with out Hull and managed a 3rd place finish in the state pigskin playoffs.
The 6’1″ 175 pound senior gunslinger is off to a fast start this season for the #3 ranked Dogs. In a 21-6 week 1 win over 3A Kennewick, Hull hit on 17 of 30 tosses for 153 yards and a touchdown.
Week 2 saw Hull connect on 12 of 18 throws, good for 163 yards and 3 scores. Garrett also added a 14 td run in a 60-0 win over Grandview. Last week the young gun shredded the Toppenish defense for 274 yards. Hull completed 16 of 25 passes for 3 touchdowns and ran 25 yards for yet another score, in the 53-0 victory.
As far as college plans go for Hull, he says, “I will just take it one sport at a time!” With the multi talented Hull, fellow veteran senior running back Gabe Caskey, and talented wideouts Brayton Leach and Donnie Ellersick pacing the way, Ellensburg should be a force to contend with for the 2A Golden Ball trophy!
Editors Note: Garret is a true 3 Sport star. That is something we just do not see much anymore in this day and age and no doubt college coaches looking for the intangibles and a kid that can do it all and who has developed skills in all muscle groups will love this kid! Coaches keep telling me, “We want kids that play multiple sports and who do not specialize so much”. This guy might just be there man.
