One of the best looking big men in the Portland area for the 2012 recruiting class received his first offer today. And even though it may not be his last it is the one he was thinking about. So today Cam Sommer gave his verbal pledge to the PSU Vikings shortly after they made him a verbal offer.

Why the sudden response?

“This was such a great day and the Coaching staff is doing such great things. I love the school and the team and you know it was just perfect,” said Sommer. “So this is it for me. I am verbally committed to become a Portland State Viking as of today.”

And like that it was over. But that won’t keep Sommer from pressing himself to get better.

“This decision is great for me because now I know where I am going and what they are looking for from me. So my routine and schedule will shift to getting better as a player and less time spent on showcases and Summer camps to get recruited,” he said.
