How good are the Bellevue Wolverines? The pieces of the puzzle that is a #1 National team are there and almost all in place. After their convincing win over Lakes they were moved up to the #5 Team in the Nation and our broadcast helped that to happen. A lot of eyes were watching and we were so happy to be able to have our friends at Washington Sports Network broadcast the game over the web.
Thousands of high school football fans and coaches too watched that game all over the globe. That included some servicemen and women over seas.
After the weekend the top brass at RivalsHigh.com reviewed all the goings on from this past weekend and decided who was moving up and who was moving down.
Lakes with the 35-14 loss moved down to #43 where they will likely stay after ending their year at 11-1. They put up a great battle but could never get their offense rolling.
The strong showing against the Lancers, who were in the #19 spot as the game began, helped Bellevue move from #18 all the way to #5 in the Nation. A top 5 spot is a real honor. And they could move higher. Here is a look at the Top 10 in the USA as ranked by Rivals.com.
1 | Trinity | Louisville | KY | 12-0 | 1 |
The Shamrocks rolled their rival St. Xavier, 42-6. It also dodged a major injury bullet with the very talented James Quick knee injury not being as serious as initially thought it to be. Two games left for a state and potential national title.
2 | Gaffney | Gaffney | SC | 13-0 | 3 |
The Indians defense is for real and its offense is in a good place right now. A showdown with ranked-Byrnes could be icing on the cake or its undoing. This week, the Indians hammered Dorman, 33-3.

Don Bosco went out and thumped Paramus Catholic, 49-3. Another expected win against St. Joe’s is between now and the showdown with ranked-Bergen Catholic.
4 | Katy | Katy | TX | 12-0 | 5 |
The Tigers saw its first major test in a month and, while it passed, it certainly was not with flying colors. Cy-Woods is a quality team but the 44-30 final was not pretty.
5 | Bellevue | Bellevue | WA | 12-0 | 18 |
Stock Rising: This may be the best Bellevue team of its time in the national spotlight. The offense is a thing of beauty with Tyler Hasty running the show and the defense is always playing angry. A Top 3 finish is not out of the question for this team.

Camden Country downed Marietta this week, 48-7. The next three weeks can push Camden into the Top 3 or out of the Top 20.
7 | Skyline | Dallas | TX | 12-0 | 23 |
Stock Rising: Skyline showed that it was not the same team of the last two seasons by rising to the occasion every time now-No.36 DeSoto made a play. Its defense was tested and responded and the Raiders may now be the favorite for the 5A-DI title in Texas.
8 | Good Counsel | Olney | MD | 12-0 | 8 |
Washington, D.C. Catholic League champion: Wins over Manatee and Gilman made for a solid season for the Falcons.
9 | Miramar | Miramar | FL | 10-0 | 10 |
Miramar has been pushed into the lead dog position for Florida. A run to a Class 8A state title will ensure it ends there as well.
10 | Armwood | Seffner | FL | 11-0 | 2 |
Stock Falling: The Hawks only trailed briefly but it was in the fourth quarter. The team had a commanding lead and allowed an inferior opponent back into the game before winning, 35-31. We have seen that movie before with Armwood. |
What could happen is that Bellevue wins out in convincing fashion and moves up anywhere from 1 to 4 spots. A #1 National ranking at seasons end is within reach for the Wolverines and their destiny is in their hands. If any of the schools in front of them lose or have close games the boys from Bellevue will move up.
Even if it is only for bragging rights it is a really big deal as we want the talent here in the Pacfici Northwest held in the highest esteem. Having teams like Lakes and Bellevue in Washington are a big part of that.
Cour d’Alene in Idaho went 12-0 and win the State title over the weekend and became the first Idaho team to ever crack the RivalsHigh 100.
In Oregon Sheldon of Eugene and Lake Oswego both moved up into the to 46 and 47 respectively and are both still undefeated and on a potential collision course for a State Title showdown.
This is a great time of the year and such a great thing to see for our boys out here to be getting their due. This has been a goal of ours for a lon long time and it is important in opening up new scholarship opportunities from colleges outside the Region.
Is Bellevue really that good? In a word YES! More to follow on that one.
