Lordy Lordy Jacob Yordy – RA Long Stud Getting It Done

Down in the southwestern Washington town of Longview looms a superbly talented scat back in RA Long high school’s senior blazer Jacob Yordy. The Lumberjacks main man has been dashing and darting around the state since his freshman year. As a ninth grader in 2010 Yordy was a 1st Team All Greater St Helens League 2A kick returner and 2nd team wideout.

Yordy was again a 1st team all-league receiver as a sophomore, as well as a punt and kick returner. Last fall the jack of all trades moved to a more traditional running back role and shredded up the St Helens league, earning 1st team running back honors. He again was a 1st teamer returning kicks and punts. This cat quick phenom has definitely been there, done that.
Fast forward to this season, and the 5’9″ 180 pound senior speed merchant is leading the state in rushing. He is putting up astronomical numbers in 2013. Through 6 ball games, Yordy has dashed for 1334 yards on 133 carries, averaging 10 yards per carry. He has run for 24 touchdowns on the ground alone, adding another 2 through the airways and 1 one a kick return. 27 total touchdowns through 6 contests? Are you kidding me? That is flat out getting it done folks!
Jacob has had some monster ball games this season. In week 1 he ran for 242 and 5 total touchdowns in a 49-28 victory over Battle Ground. In a week 3 victory over Kelso, Yordy blistered his way for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns. Week 5 saw the burner zip for 288 yards and 7 scores in a convincing 56-14 win over Washougal. Last week he scored the winning touchdown with less than a minute left to secure a hard fought 15-8 win over Aberdeen.
Yordy and a veteran Lumberjack ball club are rolling along at 6-0. They are currently ranked 7th in the AP 2A polls. Jacob has had some help with the beef up front for RA Long. Talented offensive lineman/defensive end Skylen O’Brien helps pave the way for the Jacks. Mitch Moe is a 3 year starter on both sides of the ball. The 6’2″ 240 pound senior starts at offensive line and is a big hitting linebacker on defense. Quarterback Ryan Peerboom is a terrific 3 year starting signal caller for Long.
Jacob Yordy’s blinding speed also shows up on the track, where Yordy runs 100 and 200 meters as well as the 4×100 relay. He has qualified for the state 2A meet since his freshman year, where the rocket finished 3rd in 200 and 4th in the 100. He finished 6th at state in his sophomore year in the 200. Yep, this kid can flat out fly, whether on the track or on the gridiron.
