Today is a big day for the Dean family of Kirkland, Washington. Because today their son Nathan Dean pledged his football services to the University of Washington in exchange for a full ride scholarship. Dean is one of several Northwest kids that the U of W have offered this year but the first major line recruit to pull the trigger.
Nathan touched base with us a little while ago to let us know what happened and why he did it.
“So my sister is a Sophomore at the U of W and she has always wanted to meet the coaches. So we went up to meet with Coach Sark and while I was there I committed on the spot,” said a jubilant Dean who said Sark did some celebrating too. “My sister was so excited and so am I.”
Nathan was sitting on 7 solid offers and was expecting some others. Looking ahead he thought to himself about all he had seen and experienced leading up to this day.
“Leading up to today I wanted to see other things you know. So I visited almost all of the schools out West here. I saw what I needed to see and there is no place better for me to be as a player or as a student,” said Nathan who chooses the Dawgs over UCLA, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and WSU.
What position does he best project to?
“I am feeling offensive tackle but you know I am not sure. Anywhere along the line is fine for me. Once the pads go on it will all work itself out.”
