Navy Offers TJ Salu As Championship Looms

His second offer in the last two weeks is a big one!  TJ Salu is well known as a stalwart Center and a terror at Defensive line for the Rams of Central Catholic.  Right now he and the Rams are just days away from the OSAA 6A State Championship Game in Oregon and his mind is on beating the Tigers of Tigard.  Having said that the 6’2″- 275 lb talent called to let us know the big news.

TJ Salu has a bright future and gaining the Nay offer tonight only made it that much brighter.

“NAVY just offered me a scholarship,” said Salu.  “It is no doubt a huge honor for me and my family.”

NAVY follows Sac State of California who made Salu his first offer a few days back.

“It’s an amazing opportunity. They are coming in a few weeks for an in home visit so I’m excited to learn more about the Academy,” he added.

We wondered if he was ready for this sort of a commitment.  There is no doubt the upside of a NAVY education and career can be life altering but for most young athletes it is a lot to take in.  The uncertain world we live in would mean he could be called up to a battle station during his time in the Navy.  So we asked if he could see himself in that position?

“No I wouldn’t be opposed to it.  Yeah it is a huge commitment. I am going to have to sit down and have a long talk with my family about it,” concluded TJ.

Off he went to prepare but no doubt the young man is honored to have the offer.  NAVY has offered several other NW Football recruits and we thank them for their patronage and continued interest in our boys.  It is truly an honor.

Best of luck to Salu and all of the Rams and Tigers who face one last battle this season.
