To say he is talented is an under statement. He is really very good and stands out in many ways over any of the other top QB's in the Pacific Northwest. That is why Isaac Dotson of Newport High School in Washington is someone colleges should be paying particular attention too.
At 6'3" and 210 pounds Isaac is perhaps the most mobile dual-threat QB out West and has proven that the past couple of years. As an option QB he is excellent. That does not mean he has to be in that scheme. He will be just a dangerous as a Spread or Pistol QB as well and his 750 yards and 12 TD's rushing his Junior year are a testament to that.
He does a great job of throwing the football as well. That is an area he has continued to improve in and where he has the most upside. Big enough to have the vision needed to scan the field and make his reads and agile enough to give defensive linemen fits too.
Last season he threw for 1100 yards and had another 10 touch downs to add to his totals.
"This Spring I have been really working on my speed and agility with my trainer Kenny Manson. He is doing a really great job and there is no doubt I am making good progress," he told us and says his 40 time is coming along into the 4.6 range and his 20 yard shuttle a 4.21.
On the recruiting front he is well known and well liked. He says he has been in almost weekly contact with Coaches from Idaho and Washington State. And there are many other schools looking over his amazing transcripts.
Dotson carries a 3.88 GPA and hit an 1870 on his SAT. That has brought him the attention of the Ivy Leagues as well.
"Yale, Idaho, Boise State, and WSU have been to my school. There is also interest coming in from Stanford, UCLA, Cal, PSU, and Montana."
While he is planning his Summer out he is making a stop at the Elite 11 tryouts in California which should be in the next week or so. He is also scheduled to be at the Nike NFTC Camp in Eugene on June 10th where much of the talent in the Pacific Northwest will come together for one day.
WashingtonPreps.com will be watching Isaac Dotson with keen interest. There is no doubt he is very well suited for his QB role and can do a lot of things out there on the grid-iron that other kids just can not do.
