NW Football Athletes: New Offers And Commits

An update tonight on a few kids we have been tracking the last year or so.  They are finally landing some offers and attention that we had stipulated they would or should and it is great to see these guys get things cranked up.  It only take one offer for some of our top prospects to land another and then another.  True they only need one but this is how it works.  Most of our 2016 recruits will not land many offers until their Senior season and even at that the number of kid getting offers is a small percentage of the total.  Our study at NWPR showed that about .46 of a player on the average High School Football team will land a D1 or D1AA offer.  That is how hard that is and the very reason why we focus on kids who are trying to just make it to the next level; at any level.

Here are a few athletes with News to Share:

Conner Crist Of Tigard has produced one of the best films for a Junior we have seen.

Conner Crist – Tigard HS Junior – 6’3″- 305 lbs – Linemen

Offered March 2015 By YALE

Reaction

“I was extremely excited about the offer. I was surprised that Yale had pulled the trigger so fast on me. I hadn’t expected it so soon because I have only been in contact with them for about a month now. But I was and still am very happy and very thankful. I was very relieved I guess to hear that a school wanted to offer me. Yale is a great academic school obviously and that is one thing I’m looking for in a school. A Yale degree can prepare me very well after college. I’m gonna try to get out there hopefully this summer for a visit and check out the campus because I’m very interested right now,” Crist told NWPR.
He has a lot if interest from Pac 12 Schools like Cal.  This offer as they say is a “Life Changer”
Way to Go Conner Crist!

Steffan Jacobsen – Wilson HS (OR) Junior- 6’3″- 195 lbs – Safety
Offered by NAVY in March 2015

Steffan Jacobsen is not a kid that wows anyone with his build (yet) but oh my can he play and his film is crazy good!

Head Coach Ken Duillo of Portland’s Wilson HS rarely reaches out because he is not one to Hype kids.  But when he emailed me before the NW Stars Camp and told me about this young man I was all ears.  Now Steffan looks a little bit like the typical kid next door.  But behind that boyish grin is an mad man on the football field.  His film is as good as they come and he looked great at the camp.  His fortunes changed form a little known to a well known recruit this past week as our good friend Ken Niumatalolo of the Naval Academy swept in and made Jacobsen an offer to NAVY; Full Ride!
“The offer feels amazing because I know that I put in the effort in the gym and in school. I’ve done a lot of research about Navy recently and I really think it’s a great opportunity, to me at this point in my high school career it will boost my efforts in the future to maybe try and open new doors. But I really like the idea of going to the Naval Academy.  The other school talking to me really is Lewis and Clark. Jay Locey has been talking me. I workout at Lewis and Clark so we run into each other a lot. I know Lewis and Clark is no power football program but academics mean a lot to me, so I’m interested there.”
Way to Go Steffan and Coaches here is his Hudl Link.

James PAK- Bellarmine Prep HS- Senior – DE- OLB

6’3″- 235 lbs

Committed to SFU- Simon Frasier U in BC

James Pak stood out as a hybrid LB and DE who can move and is very highly skilled at the NW Stars Camp in February 2015. No doubt his showing there landed him the offer from SFU!

James Reacts-

“The camp was great chance to go against some tough competition and other guys like me who are in the same boat as far as recruiting. I felt like I have always been overlooked throughout my high school career and the camp gave me the opportunity to prove that! “

He is excited to play at such a great place as SFU!

Andrew Monlux – Senior -Kingston HS (WA) – 6’4″- 235 lbs – DE

Offer and Commit- University of Saint Mary

Another Senior who was a great HS Football player and who landed offers at the NW Stars Camp was Andrew Monlux of Kingston HS.

When Coach Jay Osborne came onto the field at the NWSTARSCAMP @ Interlake High School he was all business.  That included his 3 piece suit.  The NAIA program from Leavenworth, Kansas has one beautiful campus and he came to the NW loaded for bear.  We saw him chat up at least 15 players and he told me he was here to find some kids to offer scholarships to.  One of them was hard charging Andrew Monlux of Kingston HS in Washington.  He worked out a package and is all signed to play for the Spires.

Realize folks this was weeks after signing day and there is still time even today!  This was a big deal because we now have a connection and a friend in Coach Osborne and USM!

Rashaad Boddie – Junior – Skyline High School – RB – Athlete – 6’0″- 220 lbs

We have been Rashaad Boddie fans since he came to Skyline HS as a Soph. It took a while for others to buy in but by the end of his Junior season his 6'0" and 220 lb mass was just to good to deny. Idaho offered and now a Pac 12 school has.

Big news for a big time talent.  Rashaad Boddie has all the markings of not only a good college running back but a great one.  His quick twitch reaction is as good as I have seen and his top end speed is legit.  For a 220 lb back he is special.  He runs a bit upright but some of that is his proportions and some will just take time and more coaching.  Having said that he represents to us one of the great Running Backs to play HS ball here in the NW that we have seen in a long time.  Only Jonathan Stewart and Thomas Tyner come to mind in a category we would put this guy in but there are some others too.  This rare air and his showing out in Utah has landed him an offer to play for the UTES after High School.  There will be more offers we are certain!

Way to go Rashaad.

Cameron McCormick – 6’5″- 225 lbs – Junior – Summit HS (BEND)

Offer & Commit – OREGON

Summit High Cam McCormick

This is what the frame is like on this big time athlete out of Oregon- Cam McCormick!

I remember doing the first Interview with this young man and his Mom.  He had landed an offer from Arizona just out of no where.  We watched his film and nicely informed them that in our view Cam was going to become a super recruit.  After explaining that his talents were so considerable in our view that he could play anywhere in the Nation he might has thought I was nuts.  Then came the story we wrote “Cam McCormick Passes Go” and soon other stories and offers came in.  It was no wonder that as the entire Pac 12 North and most of the South came in to offer him that he had to take pause.

The Ducks offered and this young man loved the program enough to commit.  It is very well his basketball and other skills outside of football that have made him such a big recruit.  He is now considered a 3 Star Rivals Recruit and the Top Tight End out West!

Cameron way to go!  The Ducks landed a real star in this guy and being close to home is going to make Mom and a lot of folks really happy!
