Paris Penn Of Grant High In Portland Leads Again

Paris Penn Of Grant High In Portland Leads Again

Oregon has managed to produce some of the nations top QB’s over the last decade which have made there way to the NFL (Joey Harrington-C.Catholic, Kellen Clemens-Burns, Eric Ainge-Glencoe, AJ Feely-Ontario, Preston Parsons-Jesuit, Alex Brink-Sheldon).

This always makes it interesting when we take a look at future QB’s and what they have to offer. This season Sheldon features Conference player of the Year (Football and Basketball) Dillon Miller 6-1 175 Jr.(son of fromer NFL QB Chris Miller) . He will be considered the state’s top gunslinger coming into the season.

The state’s second ranked Quarterback coming into the year will be highly versatile athlete Paris Penn out of Grant. Just recently at the Barton 7 on 7 at Oregon State Penn gave us all a reminder of how dangerous he is through the air and on the ground. He is a natural born leader and someone that Head Coach Diallo Lewis can count on each and every week. Penn will be ranked as one of the top 20 overall athletes in the state on OregonPreps Top 100 list.

He is not only an outstanding football player, but baseball player as well. In July he will represent our country playing for Team USA at a week long tournament in the Dominican Republic. Last year’s baseball stats read as follows; .372 Batting Avg, 3 HR, 9 SBs, .590 Slu Pct, .427 OB Pct.

There is no question that leadership separates Penn from his peers. He is constantly barking out signals, and making sure that everyone remains on the same page. Penn says, “Its important for us as a team to understand that hard work translates into wins.”

He has been working out multiple times each week with Portland State great and QB coach John Charles who has made a huge difference in his game.

Penn will be surrounded by a perimeter of athletes that could be the state’s best. Daniel Halverson (6-2 227 LB/FB Jr.) recently received his first couple D1 offers, and Wide ReceiverJamarr Graves (6-4 200 WR/LB Jr.) who is a physical specimen that is ranked as one of the state’s Top 10 for the class of 2012′.

Nathan Halverson (5-11 175 SB/CB So.) , brother of Daniel, is also one of the state’s fastest athletes and ranks high for the class of 2013.

With four athletes projecting at the D1 level the Generals feel the excitement.

He has heard from a variety of schools, some more then others. E.Washington, Oregon State, and most recently the University of Washington have expressed their interest.

A recent trip to UW by Oregon’s top football players was perfect for Penn.
