Quinton Richardson is a rising star. The 6’2″ – 230 pound athlete form South Eugene is explosive and after spending 3 days in pads with him let us say this. Good luck stopping this kid.
The Axemen have not been a powerhouse program for sometime now. That however does not mean there is not plenty of talent there. Under NFL great and new Head Coach Chris Miller we expect big things. And if the 12 linemen we met at Trench Camp are any indication they might jump on some people this year too. Coaching and talented players usually ends up creating wins.
Richardson is just Nasty in the trenches and is an intriguing guy because he can play 4 positions with the speed and agility and size he has. We LOVE him at the Defensive End slot and his Motor and get off are top notch. He can move back and play either of the Linebacker spots because he can run and jump and be very effective against the Run and the Pass. And his job as a Offensive Guard was above par for a High School linemen.
His Coach will play him as a Tailback too and try bringing down a guy this size. In short yardage it is going to be like bringing down Colt Lyerla. He is going to get yards.
At Trench Camp he was an MVP and handled most all of the O’Linemen at Camp regularly. Even outweighed by up to 100 lbs he displayed a pad level and technique that was noteworthy and he won battles. His motor and demeanor is all business. Quinton is a shoe in at the D-2 for a Scholarship spot but we see a D-1 AA linemen; the Big Sky should be all over this guy.
Catch the interview we did with him and make sure he is on your list of guys to follow in 2013! We wish he and the Axemen big things this year!
