Skyline Spartan’s Welcome’s Newcomers And Power Up Team

This season appeared to be the first season that Skyline was going to come into the Fall without a known entity at QB. Gone is Max Browne who ended the year rated #1 Pro Style QB on his way to USC after a 3 year run at Skyline that set almost all the records at the Sammamish, Washington High School. Skyline Spartan’s Welcome’s Newcomers And Power Up Team

Skyline.  The Spartans.  What can you say other then excellence and success!  It is the mark of the Spartan’s that they win and win a lot.  5 State Titles in the last 6 years and they do not look like a team that is planning to change that tune anytime soon.

Kilton Anderson was a Co-MVP at the NWEFC at Mercer Island which was the biggest event pf the year!

H replaced the #1 QB in the Nation in Jake Heaps who headed to BYU and had some success before moving on to Kansas where he has a chance to start this season.  Many felt that this year Skyline was beatable.  That maybe they would not leave the Tacoma Dome with yet another Golden Ball Trophy.

Enter Kilton Anderson.   A phenom Quarterback from Naples, Florida who moved to Seattle recently to play for the Spartans.    The 6’2″- 205 lb blond haired gun slinger looks like Ronnie “Sunshine” Bass from Remember The Titans and he throws like a howitzer has been installed where his arm used to be.  The kid is good.  Really good.  He ran for 28 TD’s last season and almost 1,000 yards and  and threw for 1,288 yards and 17 more.

Kilton holds offers from South Alabama where he has a verbal commitment to play next season.  But no doubt his coming to Skyline was and is as much about throwing the football as it is about anything.  The Spartan’s spread offense is pass happy and this kid wants and needs to show what he can do in the air and this is perhaps the biggest stage for him to do that on.  He could easily throw for 2,500 plus yards with the very talented receiver core that is coming into  the 2013 squad; many of who have serious experience and skills to boot.  The cupboards are full and the Spartan’s have a field general and D-1 QB at the helm once again.  Something most teams don’t have in their history let alone Annually.

So the QB Crisis, if there was one, is over at Skyline.

Now the story could end there and maybe it will.  But another option has just walked onto the fields at Skyline for practice and work outs that has made some real noise from the ground up.  We have eyes and ears everywhere.  That’s what happens when you write for the biggest Network in the Nation and work your butt off.  And our Bat-Phone was ringing this week from kids who do not play for Skyline that the Spartans have a new weapon who is not a Quarterback.  So we hit the phones.

Answering our question about this kid was stud linemen Reggie Long; a Massive Offensive and Defensive linemen who will anchor the line at Skyline this season.

“He is only going to be a Soph. and he is the strongest kid on the team and we got some big dudes,” said Reggie.

That told us something.

Spartan Wide receiver and college level talent Sam Mix responded briefly too saying, “He is gonna be a sophomore and he is insane.”

That led to a few more calls and after a while we found out what we needed to know.  He is another transplant form back East.  He is very big and very physical and has potentially a very bright future as a student athlete.

His name is Rashaad Boddie and you should probably remember that name.

Rashaad Boddie (Right) is an incoming Sophomore and recent transfer to Skyline High School.

We did a very long and very in-depth interview with him.  And he is a very bright and very intelligent interview.  A superb kid to speak to and one we hope to get to know better.  For right now, because he is new to the area and because he is only going to be a Sophomore, we want to give him some space and let he and his team focus on the future.

What we will do is tell you the following:

  • Rashaad is just under 6’1″.
  • Rashaad is 222 lbs right now.
  • He has moved here in the past couple weeks from North Carolina- Clayton High School.
  • He runs track and runs the 200, 100, and 4 x 100.
  • His 200 Meter PR Time is 23.5 and his 100 Meter PR is 11.4 – both as a Freshmen.
  • He attended Clayton HS where he played Football –  mostly JV Ball where he posted 32 TD’s and scored whenever he wanted.
  • Rashaad says he is competing for the Starting Running Back spot at Skyline.
  • He benches 345 lbs, Squats 400, and Dead-lifts 500 lbs; he has a massive and powerful upper body.
  • His Broad Jump is 10’3″ (which is amazing with 10’10” being the National Record for a HS Kid- Colt Lyerla).
  • He will be competing in Football and Track at Skyline.
  • His #1 skill according to him is to be quick and powerful and finish runs and score.

Raashad Boddie 405

Now it not hard to see how his physical presence is going to be potentially very explosive.  The numbers do not lie and the boys we spoke to know football.  We have a bit more on the back story of this bright young man but for now we will let you know that he should be getting some touches at the Opener at Husky Stadium against the Regions #1 Team; the Bellevue Wolverines.  He might become something great,  he might be average, and maybe he will just be a great student while at Sparta.  His story will unfold and he will write on the pages of his book with his deeds.  In the end he and his Skyline brothers will accomplish that together.

Just a note for all of you who are chomping at the bit to get this season going.  The September 7th game is going to be the game of the year maybe as Skyline will come into the year #1 or #2 and Bellevue is the #1 team and no doubt as loaded or more so then they have every been.  Read More About the Emerald City Classic right here.
