One guy we have had at the top of our lists for QB’s the last 2 seasons is Thomas Hamilton. Who? That is what we used to hear all the time even from schools like Portland State who offered him today. The facts are that the 6’4″- 220 lb rocket tosser was playing hundreds of miles away in Baker City, Oregon in a mostly run oriented offense. A place few people notice kids.
Thomas Hamilton of Oregon City received his first offer today!
Hamilton has been coming over the mountains and up the Gorge for years to train with new West Linn Head Coach Chris Miller and this past year with All American John Charles of Air One Football Academy. The two QB Gurus and myself have teamed up to tell people about this guy and while they listened it became a “Show Me” case for colleges. So Hamilton came to a number of showcase events and was named an all camp MVP in Seattle at the NWEFC Camp in June.
Then came a move to Oregon City High School this Summer; something many felt would pay dividends for Thomas and the Pioneers. Charles worked him out a lot and Hamilton threw for PSU at their Summer Camp and was on target. All of those things in combination led to the news he just shared with our staff.
“I just landed my first official offer from the Portland State Vikings,” said Hamilton.
So how does he feel now after the thousands of miles in driving and the camps and the move and the endless hours of work to become a D1 guy?
“It’s amazing…it was very cool. I am very excited,” he added. “It’s a big relief and I love the coaches there so I’m definitely excited about the opportunity!”
Now the Pioneers are 0-2 after 2 slug fest losses but Hamilton knows he and the guys can play better and still make the playoffs. There is no lack of talent on that Pioneer squad.
“The PSU Coaches liked me and came to see me play against West Linn. That made a big difference to them and helped make this offer happen as well.”
We have preached this- if you want the offer you have to show love and work at connecting 1-1 with the college coaches. Hamilton is one of those guys who listened and it was a great pleasure to have a chance to help him along the way with the Premier Prospect Program where almost 20,000 people have reviewed his information. We also had he many talks with he and his family about the process and they listened and made this happen together. It has been great to see him get better.
This was a win for both he and the Vikings today and if it works out this could be the first big commitment of the year for the Vikings. Congrats to Thomas Hamilton and his family on the big day today!
