Trent Sewell (Blue) catches a deep ball against Mission Viejo last season in the Opener |
The camp season is all but over with just the 5 Star Performance Camp at Auburn Mountain View on July 31st left to go. Looking back at this past month we have a great perspective as to who stood out the most from the NW athletes. One guy that solidified his position at the top of the WR spot was Trent Sewell of Bothell.
Camp after camp he had commanding performances and bested defenders big and small. With offers in hand from UCLA and WSU he went out looking for more.
What does he have to show for it? Well he is, according to many colleges, at the top of their list for who gets the next offer.
Many schools have offers out to premier WR types from the bigger States. But some of those 4 and 5 star guys have 10 or 15 schools waiting on them. In the end when they commit it will send schools scrambling for the next guy on their recruiting boards. And Sewell’s name is right there.
He attended camps at Boise State, Colorado, Cal, Utah, Oregon, and Oregon State. At each camp he shined as one of the top 1 or 2 WR’s in attendance.
“I think that every camp I improved. It was great going up against better and better talent each week,” said Sewell. “There was not a camp where I honestly feel I did not stand out.”
Trent says of those camps the Cal, Colorado, and Oregon Camps stood out as his best performances.
“At Oregon I faced these two brothers from Texas. Man those guys were the very best defenders and athletes I have ever seen. But once we started mixing it up I was able to beat them almost every rep.”
Strong words from a very confident Sewell who now feels that he has seen the best and is not afraid to say he among them.
He is such a big and physical kid that it is hard for defenders to best him. His routes and hands have only improved and we have seen enough of him and the other recruits in the region to have him squarely at the #1 position for wide receivers in the class of 2012.
