People are hyped up and nervous at the same time right now. It has been a long off season and enough is enough. It is almost time to play ball and head into the mist.
Friday Nights are coming.
Let me offer to all of you a perspective here at the jumping off point in regards to recruiting.
For you Seniors without major offers you need to know this. For most of you they are not coming. The big D- programs are almost done. And they have a few spots, and I mean a few, that are not filled. Many of you guys about to start your Senior years are better then the the kids with offers. This fact is true every year because most really good Sophomore’s or Juniors who grab offers do not continue to rise to a higher level and many Seniors are just starting to fill out and will play their best football in the later half of their Senior year.
When Friday Night Lights flip on in a couple weeks the stars will all be known and the offers will all quiet down. There is one thing you guys can do- you Seniors- to help yourselves. Lead and Play. Leave all this Hype and false promises and carnival barkers in the recruiting world behind and turn inward to your Coaches and your boys.
For God sake do not miss this year; for your own sake and for your future make this season about you and your team because believe me it will never ever be like this again for you. Ever.
If you are good enough to play any level of college football you will play. If you think your “good to go” because your getting letters or on a list or have an agent you are wrong. You are not. College football is a business and a fickle one. Let all this just sit and play. Are your grades good enough? Are you fast enough? Will your full game film show that your highlights are not just a tease? They better boys.
To prove my point what if I told you that a basketball player who has not played High School football was asked to come to a camp this Summer, did so, and now has full ride offers for football? He never sweated it out, never tried to get recruited, never worried about all this much. He has no HIDL Film but after we saw him at 1 camp we knew he was one of the very best.
Talent plays in college and real talent is not missed. To best help yourselves guys focus on winning, whistle to whistle hustle, leadership, and being the best you have ever been!
Montre’ Brown of Wilson landed the most coveted offer in the FCS and has more coming in. The big boys are waiting for film and they are coming in too. He is the real deal.
