Three of the best linemen in the State of Washington are all friends wrapping up their college plans.
A year ago several of the top linemen in the State found themselves working out together and training with each other. All of them share the dream of playing college ball. And for all of them the dream is going to pay off. Shown above are Joshua Garnett of Puyallup HS,Walker Williams of Tacoma Baptist, and Scott Rose of White River. Garnett became one of the top 10 linemen in the Nation and an All American. He holds so many offers that he looses track and now he is down to Michigan and Stanford with one of the teams about to hit the lottery. Josh is ready to hit the field and play for anyone very soon. Walker Williams ended up being the Giant of the bunch and so athletic. He made the most of his preseason offers and found out he loved it in Wisconsin and called it early. The future Badger is also an All American and all settled in despite the Huskies who now want him worse then ever. For Rose the road to find a home has been a little longer. At 6’5″ and 295 big Scott is a beast. In most States he would be the odds on #1 linemen. In Washington this year he was one of 9 or 10 collegians. While he had brushes with the Huskies and others no one has pulled the trigger and he has decided not to commit as a preferred walk on for the Dawgs. “I have decided to attend Menlo College in California. They offered me a full scholarship package, it’s an amazing school for my degree, and the coaching is going to be amazing,” said Scott. He is right. One of the best D-2 schools in the Nation Menlo will be a contender year in and year out. More over they have attracted a top flight coach who has Scott fired up. “Coach Mark Speckman is their new head Coach. At Willamette University he founded the Fly Sweep offense. That is my favorite offense and Coach is an amazing motivator and mentor,” he said. “I feel very fortunate to go somewhere I could start early and have an amazing school experience.”
