Folks there are big kids and there are big kids. And boy have we seen some Monsters coming out of the Northwest lately. But this one right here might just take the cake.
White Swan is a small school in the Simcoe / Cascade Mountains on the Yakama Indian Reservation (Yakama Nation) in the State of Washington. The Cougars are a 2B team. A Small town and small school football for sure. But that does not mean they are not up to really big things.
The Cougars are having quite a season and are playing well as a team owning an 8-1 record . They may be able to make another good play off run this year from the looks of it.
One of the reasons for that success is a really big one. His name is Tony Picard and he is a running back for White Swan.
Tony is a mammoth 6’4″-400 lbs and is the biggest running back in the United States at any level. He is part Umatilla-Nez Perce Indian and says he has some Sioux Indian blood too. He plays nose guard as well as Running back.
Such a big kid has to have a nick-name right?
“They call me Big Tone,” he offered.
The pictures tell the tale. He is heavy, sure, but the kid is also athletic and it is taking several players to bring him down. Tony has rushed for over 700 yards and has a boatload of Touchdowns; 15 to be exact.
“Yes … I do have a lot of fun! Football is a way a life for me it’s in my blood and it takes quite a few to bring me down,” said Tony.
The Cougars use a number of offensive weapons and he is biggest one. In fact he would be the biggest weapon in the NFL or NCAA too. He and the Cougars are wrapping up the season tonight and have the State Title in mind.
“We have been to the playoffs since my Sophomore year and we are looking forward to that again this season.”
What about College Football? Is that something he wants to pursue?
You Bet!
“Yeah I want to play college football it is my dream…I hope I can go the next level,” Tony replied.
Ok so let’s be honest. He is so big it might be viewed as a blessing and/or a curse. Has that been a factor for him?
“People say that (too big) but I try not to let it get to me.”
Great attitude. Tony is one of the few true big men who has had a shot to take that rock over the goal line and celebrate and bask in the glory of a Touchdown. Does the big man have a TD Celebration Dance?
“No I just score and take care of business; no celebration until I have that state trophy in my hands.”
He plays beside his younger brother who he credits for being a big part of the success of this team. Albert is 5’8″ and 155 lbs. Quite a tandem those kids make!
Despite all the “naming” controversy going on Nationally for teams that use Indian and other ethnic names Tony is unphased. He has no issues with the use of such names at all and understands the naming is meant as a source of strength and power. I get that and agree with him as my own heritage is being used, the Viking, and we love it. Smart minded politically savvy young guy here!
Tony says he is an easy going big man and that he enjoys getting along with everyone! What a terrific kid to get to know; we love a good story and a good big man. And Tony is sure a great example of of both!
We wish the White Swan Cougars safe travels and much success in the weeks ahead and hope they and Tony have many games left to play!

Not impressed. My brother Jacob Kimmell from portland high school in Michigan has 2X more yards and 5 or 6 more tds… In one season and he loweres his shoulder and it takes multiple guys to take him down. 5\’11 185 lbs. has he been looked at even though they won states? No. And won\’t be because he is not a rediculous size in a rediculous position. In the NCAA and NFL if he is to make it that far you would be a tackle. Maybe a nose. But a running back? Not a chance, unless you wanted a very short football career.

Sorry to crush anyone\’s hopes and dreams, but he is too big and immobile to be a running back at any level other than high school or d2 college, if that. He could make it as a D-linemen if he shed about 60 pounds of fat and added 10-20 pounds of muscle. I don\’t know how good of shape the kid is in, but going 3 or 4 quarters as a starter in high school is much different than any high level college. Not saying he couldn\’t be a great player, but he is going to have to make some fundamental changes.

Have you considered the extra help he would get for the things you mentioned when he goes to college? High schools don\’t usually have the resources to really work with their players when it comes to nutrition and things like that. Instead of being negative, maybe you should say \”Way to go! Keep working hard and enjoy what you are doing!\” Maybe he won\’t ever be on a top rated teams roster in college or in the NFL. Have you thought that maybe he just loves to play? Instead of criticizing maybe positive words of encouragement would go much further.

Maybe he just wants to have fun playing football. Not everyone is playing for college scholarships or has NFL dreams. Don\’t be a jerk.

Alec wasn\’t being a jerk, he was stating what he believes to be true. There\’s a difference between insulting and critique; his post was the latter. He could be completely wrong, but that does not make him a jerk. Alec didn\’t make any inferences as to whether or not Picard plans on moving on to other leagues, so don\’t use that as leverage to demean his opinions.

I think you should consider the fact that at 6\’4\” he\’s a beast. His body knows how to carry a lot of weight, which is different from the guys that have to work hard to put on the weight necessary to play on the line. At 6\’4\” and almost 400 pounds, he\’s running the ball and getting used to trucking people. while he\’s in high school. I\’m a big LSU fan, and I\’d love to see us sign this young man as a potential tight end/ JC Copeland type fullback. LSU\’s a program with great strength training and explosiveness-building training. Not on here to lobby for a particular school, but the kid will be a beast at the right college. He\’ll have the opportunity to develop the skills to be a great pro. RUN BIG MAN RUN! Now show me that you can catch the ball a little 🙂

So many people are being rude because of how he looks but think of this one amazing former \”big man\” in the NFL that made a big impact running the ball \”fridge\” he was a beast.
People ask why people grow and start to hate people it\’s because all the people who make dumb remarks about what they look like \”examples , like their weight , their hair , face , muscles/lack of , so on\”. Who says he has no muscle for all you know he has a lot of muscle but you\’re to rude or ignorant to think of that because of how he looks , any team we sign him in both college and the pros. This from what so many people talk about and make very rude and hurtful comments has made me lose faith in the human race I\’m not saying you can\’t I\’m just saying think before speaking/typing. How would you feel if you switched places? Now think he probably has had a hard time growing up which I could understand somewhat since I myself am not a small kid I am a big guy but at least I don\’t judge people , or make them feel bad. If people want to say rude things to people who are big well they can say the same to all the small/ unhealthily small people.

Here is the thing folks. He is not a Running Back. He knows it and he admits it. He knows he is heavy and that he will need to work hard and be a linemen and all. But Damnit he is doing his thing right now and LOVES IT! He plays Nose guard and some O line too. But he can bend and move and the young man has a spirit that is Strong! That is why I am allowing some comments on her to at least discuss what is being said. Most of it, 90 %, is positive. To see someone go for their dreams and put them selves out there like that and help their brothers win a game is amazing! Tony is super and he is inspiring people. Believe me he does not care what any of you doubters are posting. Right now the Cougars have a game to win! Good luck boys!

For you nasty commenters out there, there\’s a big difference between big men and little men, and I\’m not talking physically. For those that gotta tear a kid down, wow, you\’re insecurity is showing! Real men, adults, ones who have lived life and have some experience, know that this high school fun is short lived. So let the kid enjoy it now! For the rest of you, grow up.

Honestly, that pretty much qualifies you as being an ass. This story isn\’t about you. And diving at the knees is dirty. You\’d want to hurt a guy for life over a game? How old are you?! You\’re a little man, little minded. If you couldn\’t win a game on your own athletic ability and had to stoop low to win, well, dirty is dirty.
