Over in the Yakima Valley looms a small school standout in Zillah High School’s own Justin Dunsmore. The 6’6″ 220 pound Senior rocket tossing quarterback will lead a largely inexperienced Leopard ball club this fall. Dunsmore was a 1st team All-SCAC signal caller last year as a Junior. With last year’s big guns Brady Widner and Kurt Calhoun lost to graduation Dunsmore will have to shoulder a heavier load. Big shoulders lead to big things hopefully for the 1A Leopards.
The silky smooth Dunsmore led the Zillah hoop squad to the state title last winter, finishing with a perfect 27-0 mark. Justin averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds a game, earning 1st team All-State honors. The crafty interior glass worker was a 1st team all-league choice following both his sophomore and junior roundball campaigns.
He should be one of the top small school quarterbacks in the state this season. In a run heavy offense at Zillah, Dunsmore managed to throw for 1100 yards up stairs. The big armed QB hit on 64% of his throws last season. He threw for 16 touchdowns to go with only 1 interception, a very efficient leader under center for the Leopards. Watch out for this kid this season on the gridiron, we expect big things from young Mr. Dunsmore!!
